note: All costs given are for Gimli Art Club members

Workshops
shown in colour are given by artists who are not Art Club members.
Members registering for these
workshops must pay for them two weeks prior to the workshop.
If fewer than 20 members have registered and paid two weeks
before the workshop, it will be opened up to the general public.
The cost for non-members to attend a workshop is double the
cost of an Art Club member.

Wednesdays starting Jan 6, 2010 (usually
runs to May or June)
Drop In at the Art Club
Come in and work on your own projects. A good opportunity to
meet other members and learn from each other. No charge
Tuesdays and Wednesdays starting January
5 and 6, 2010 7 - 9 pm Pottery
Art Club member Rose Marie Hess
is on hand to help others with hand building techniques and
wheel work. Provide your own supplies, clay and glazes. A variety
of glazes are available in the pottery room at no charge.
Firing provided at a minimal cost, dependent on size of piece.
LIVE MODEL AND
STILL LIFE DRAWING
Mondays starting January 18, 2010 and
running until April 26, 2010 10 am to noon Figure Drawing
Art Club members, Joanne and Julia, will guide you through this
informal class. They will do some sketching themselves so you
can see how they draw a figure. You will learn a lot and have
fun at the same time.
Suggested Supplies: Large sheets of paper or Large drawing
pad, Charcoal, Pencils, Erasers, Bulldog clips for the stand
or easel you are working on. No charge.
Our Monday morning Live Model classes
are continuing from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. Everyone
who has a pad of paper, some pencils or charcoal stick is welcome
to draw at the Club.
The group has decided to expand from drawing
people to doing "Still Life". These will be
held on Thursday afternoons from 1:00
p.m. to 3:00 or 3:30 p.m.. Each week there will be different
objects as models. You can also use any medium that you wish.
This could be pencils or paint of any type. If you prefer crayons,
go for it.
We are self-led in both of these groups, so are free of charge
and everyone is welcome.
Critique Group
Last Wednesday of the month starting
January 27, 2010 and running until April 28, 2010 ...
1 - 3 pm ....Critique Group
Enjoy an activity designed to help you grow as an artist. Critique
Group is an opportunity to learn about and participate in group
discussion based on foundation principles. Remember you may
choose to bring your works, or not, for critique; you can choose
to be a group member or not. It's a very open, positive process.
Facilitated by Art Club members Madeleine Barg and Gayle Halliwell.
No charge.

Art Club Member Kathy Hastie MSA will be facilitating a Collage
Class Tuesday, March 16 and Thursday, March 18, 2010 from 12:30
to 3:30 p.m. (The class runs over the two afternoons.) The cost
is $5.00 per member. Please register at the Club or you can
email Mary Ann at wordplay@mymts.net.
SUPPLY LIST
Choose a simple subject - ie. still life, flowers, vase (bring
your own material).
• Old watercolour painting to work on.
• Old paintings to cut or rip up, tissue paper, rice paper.
• Scissors.
• Light weight clear plastic to draw on and cut shapes.
• Dark pen -ie. Sharpie or sketch pen.
• Saran Wrap.
• Weights - Board, books, rocks, sand in bags.
• Acrylic Medium - Gloss or Matte.
• Containers for medium -ie. lids from jars, pill bottles
etc.
• Old brushes to apply the medium.
• Watercolour paint and brushes.
• Water containers (2).
• Paper towels.
• Varnish -gloss or matte.

Acrylic Mediums Workshop with Gerry Berard
The Workshop in How to Use Acrylic Mediums with Gerry Berard
is scheduled for Saturday, March 27 from 10 am to 4 pm at the
Club.
Members who have already registered are reminded that their
registration fee of $20.00 is now past due. Please bring your
payment to the Club as soon as possible. As Club members have
not filled the available spots, the workshop is now open to
non-members.
The cost for a non-member
to attend the workshop is $40.00. Please email Mary Ann at wordplay@mymts.net
if you are interested in attending.
To date, a supply list has not been forwarded to the Club
for this workshop. If one is received, it will be emailed to
you. If one is not received, please bring your regular supply
of acrylics, mediums, brushes and canvas with you to the workshop.
