I was born in Montreal, but have lived in many parts of Canada and called Manitoba home for most of the
past 25 years. My husband, Rob, and I began living part-time in the Gimli area in 2005 and in the past few years it has become our permanent home. I am especially inspired by the Interlake, its landscape and history.
My career in politics and market research has taken me the length and breadth of our beautiful country. In these travels I have developed a love and appreciation of Canada’s landscape. When my kids (two children and four step-children) became more independent I was able to bring my love of the Canadian landscape together with my practise and love of painting. I have no formal artistic training but I’ve learned much from others and from simply spending time painting. I work in watercolour now, but as I have more time I would like to explore other mediums.
I spend time outdoors in every season and am constantly motivated to paint the world I see. Traveling slowly; on foot, on skis or by bike heightens my awareness of the world around me and is reflected in my painting. In my work I try to communicate the awe I feel when I look closely at the details around me and the interplay between various aspects of the natural world. I trust this feeling comes through in my work.
