Gimli Art Club
Clay Sculpting
The clay sculptures were created while attending
classes with internationally-known ceramist, Jordan Van Sewell.
Jordan inspired us to create just for fun and to be whimsical.
This class allowed me to play with clay and as a result,
my relationship with clay will never be the same. Oh dear!

George's Drive to Open the Cottage.
That first trip to open the cottage in the Spring
is invigorating even when the weather won't cooperate. Here,
George is making his annual opening trip in his trusty, old convertible
wearing his favorite blue ear muffs. There is no need to
stop an old tradition. Oh, what a happy day!

Joni's New Hat This was my first attempt at sculpting a bust
and unfortunately, the hat blew off during firing in the kiln.
(Jordan wasn't impressed!) As a result, I made a new hat
using fun fur and the piece is now considered mixed media.
I am happy for this mistake as I think the piece has become more
interesting. What do you think?

The Knockout
This figure is Sonja who was a very beautiful
young woman and had it all in the looks department. However,
as years flew by, her fight to be the most beautiful creature
in the room became more and more demanding. The title of
this piece is therefore a play on words. The hand-sewn boxing
gloves are a reminder to all to stay in the ring till the last
bell rings. Go girl!
