Workshop #3

Piece by Piece- More Mosaics

For Registering : Complete the Gimli Art Club contact form found on the Website and submit. Quote the workshop you are registering "Workshop #3 " and the form of payment you prefer.  Someone will be in contact with you shortly. We accept, e-transfer, cheques or cash.  

Putting together is what Mosaic Art is all about, and Gail is a seasoned instructor who gets it all together in a relaxed and fun workshop. Gail will cover the basics of mosaics as well as adding a few twists that were not in last year's workshop- so you can either begin exploration with her or you can continue your journey in this session. 

You'll learn how to cut and arrange pieces, securely glue to a 8"x 8" or 7.5" x 11.5"(inch) surface and finish with grouting.  No previous experience is required. 

Design your own original mosaic or choose from a selection of provided patterns.

Supplies & What to bring: A supply fee is included in the registration fee, so most supplies are provided by Gail. If you have a glass cutter, bring for more precise cuts. Nippers are provided, but you could bring those if you have them. Bring rubber gloves, eye protection- glasses or goggles and a cover up. Please bring a few sheets of newspaper to cover your table ( to be rolled up at the end to ensure no small glass shards remain left behind). If you have special glass or ceramic pieces that you would like included in your design, bring them along. Bring simple drawing and designs that you might like to try.

Fee including GST: $50 for Gimli Art Club members; $104 non-members

Melanie Rocan is an award-winning Canadian artist who lives and paints at her studio north of Gimli. She has taught for the U of M, has been a MAWA mentor, and continues to show in Canada and abroad.

 

She will share her well-developed skills in guiding and critiquing in this full day workshop. Bring your own works (either new or in progress), whatever supplies you plan to use in your work, and a questioning attitude. 

Melanie will provide one-on-one guidance to participants, as well as providing group opportunities to learn together as the day progresses.
